In what era was it considered in good taste to have stairs with white risers, silver fronts and red and black linoleum steps?
We had thought that there may be pocket doors hiding in the wall between the hall and the living room. I dismantled a light switch plate to see if I could look into the wall and saw something painted inside. I pulled off the wood around the door frame that was hiding them and Woo Hoo! Pocket Doors!
On the east side of the house there is a boiler chimney that butts into the kitchen and bathrooms. I knocked a hole in the sheetrock in the kitchen and found these lovely old subway tiles! Unfortunately I didn’t find the anything as interesting in the upstairs bathroom. But we are happy to gain 2 inches in the kitchen along with a cool old texture.
Subfloor?!? Where is the lovely parquet that I was hoping for?
